16Heller! Let's step into this deep, explorable fantasy world of Dragon's Dogma 2!
Capital city or not?!
My Arisen, Aster originally wanted to make her own way to the capital to fight monsters and gain experience.
We explore the area around to get a sense of what we feel like. After Aster falls on her face multiple times, and get's tired of throwing rocks at rock walls - We eventually decided to take the Ox cart. To our pleasure - we discovered we don't miss anything out!
Aster decides to take a nap in hopes to rest up. Her beauty sleep was interrupted by goblins! Anthony begs for help so Aster gets up, and attempts to aim with her bow with no luck. Some how she leveled up and Gregor gave her all the praise.
After that... fight? Aster goes back to sleep in the Ox Cart.
The following morning, we arrive in Vernworth. As we enter the city walls, Brant comes to greet us - but he does not seem happy. Gregor pleads that Aster is the Arisen but Brant declines it saying there is only ONE Arisen who currently is the Sovran. Brant calls Aster a pretender and says he needs to interrogate her, alone.
Alone, Brant apologizes for his insolence and refers to Aster as "Your Majesty". He explains that he knows she is the true Arisen and he put on a show for her safety. He is shocked to find that she has lost her memory.
To help her with our memory, he goes over the events. Our arrival was going to robbed Queen Regent, Disa of her role. The counsel received the news of the Arisen right after everyone agreed that Disa's son would take his father's place to rule. To get rid of Aster - she got someone to abduct Aster while she recovered from her wounds, wiped her memories with a curse and sold her to Battahl as a slave. Disa then set up a replacement Arisen to serve as a puppet for her. Brant decided to set up some plans to prove that we are the true Arisen!
As Aster walked out of the building - a man bumps into her and apologizes. He runs off and hides, a guard comes looking for him and Aster decideds to lie where he was hiding. The Mysterious man thanks us but soon runs off again when a guard sees him. Who is he and will we run into him again?
Aster explores the city and talks to the locals. We pick up 5 side quests.
1. Roderick the weapon's merchant is low on his wares because Goblins are attacking his arms shipments. He requests us to talk to Klaus, the Guildhead. Aster talks to Klaus who tells us some of the new vocations are disabled because he doesn't have the weapons for them. He agrees that we need to take out the Goblin camp.
2. We bump into Mildred, she needs someone to occupy her home for a week for free while she is gone. We check our her place & it's perfect!
3.We talk to a beggar who points out how another beggar has a boring story but is somehow making lots of coin. For some reason this is interesting to Aster & she decides to keep an eye on him to see what he does. So far, he just spends the day at the fountain repeating the same story.
4. Glyndwr - an elf admiring human made bows! We have the option to give him one. Aster plans to gift him hers when she buys a better bow.
5. Donovan stops us on our way out asking him to deliver a letter to Melve. This quest is on a timer!
We talk to a local named Kevine, he tells us it's been decades since there as been a Dragon attack. It gives him hope to have the Arisen & to end the age of proxies at last. I think he means having the rightful ruler? He brings up how the Sovran Arisen is still nursing from his wounds.
At a inn - Aster meets up with Brant who we talk to in private. He believes we can prove our true identity & gives us 3 main quests.
1. Help the citizens by dealing with some monsters.
- Trevo Mine, to the northwest. Reports of Goblins
- Harve Village, west of Vernworth. Infestation of Saurians.
- Locate a group of soldiers last seen crossing the second bridge on the eastern edge of Vermund.
2. Queen Regent - infiltrate the palace to gather evidence to Disa's misdeeds.
- Brant will leave her office door is open from midnight to dawn.
3. Talk to Waldhar, a magistrate.
- He is now in a call beneath the palace from refusing Disa's demands.
- Free Waldharso he can vouch the laws & support Aster as the Arisen.
We talk to a local, Garrett ho ask if we been to a village called Harve. He tells us to avoid an old man. Everyday he goes out on a boat but is returned by the Brine. Garrett states that the old man is crazy from loosing his family & he talks about a world that lies beyond the sea. Sounds like an interesting quest!
Another local Amanda tells us there is a oracle in the palace who is powerful enough to know who the Arisen is.
We say goodbye to Jimothy and meet Freja as our new mage! Hopefully we will fight with Jimothy one day again!
