Drawing with Reference to Create Your Characters
In today's video I show you how I take this photo reference and draw a character in my own style. By transforming the work into someone else it becomes a great way to have almost unlimited amounts of source material. Using a popular actor and/or actress for your characters will give you a variety of expressions, poses, angles, and lighting for your comics.
Many professionals use this technique. You can also do the same thing with yourself, friends, and family. The main takeaway in this video is to just practice creating your own version and not copying the reference exactly the way you see it.
