DreadOut | Part 2 | Back to school!
In this lets play video I am back to playing the Indonesian horror game DreadOut! I was able to figure out what to do next in order to keep going in this game thanks to someone on Steam so after a brief confrontation with Ira we head upstairs only to be attacked by the Kuntilanak once again but this time I was unable to escape and sent in to limbo! I escape limbo and even the house but am led into a graveyard right afterwards. At the end of the graveyard we find a hanging man who looks similar to a Pocong. I get a little lost at one point so as I start looking for a solution I am attacked by two Pocong Knights who give me a run for my money but I am able to escape nonetheless. I am attacked by the hanging man not long after but awaken only to find out that Act 0 was all a nightmare. After a quick change of clothes I begin exploring a ghost town after the groups car is stopped by a collapsed bridge and we eventually come across an old school. We are quickly locked inside and everyone is separated. I try to explore but am chased down by a Babi Ngepet which is like a demon pig!

Pocong Origins:
A Pocong is a famous ghost among Indonesians. It is said that it was the soul of the dead trapped in their burial shroud (which is used to wrap the body of a dead person). They wrap the dead body with a white fabric called kafan after being showered and cleaned up by their family members, and are then tied at the top of the head, at the neck, middle body, and under the feet. According to the native beliefs, the soul of a dead person will stay on earth for 40 days after their death. For which the family members host rituals called Selamatan for the first 7 days, followed by the 14th, and finally on the 40th day.
Sometimes, the people who buried the dead would forget to loosen the kafan ties of the head. When that happens, it is said that the dead body will jump out from the grave to notify the people to loosen their kafan ties. After the ties have been loosened, the soul will leave the earth and never show up again.
Because the dead body is tied under the feet, they cannot walk, thus causing them to hop. Some people even witness the Pocong floating through the air and also performing teleportations.
Pocong Knight Origins:
The Pocong Knight shares the same basic origin with the ordinary Pocong, only the deaths of people were believed by locals to be knights of vast archipelagic empire based on the island of Java, who died on the battlefield. In their deaths, they continue to protect the secrecy of their empire at all costs.
It is similar to the concept of Egyptian soldiers being turned into mummies and buried inside pyramids, so that when they die, they will continue to guard their ancestors's legacy.
Babi Ngepet Origins:
The Babi Ngepet is a boar or swine demon in Javanese mythology. According to local myths, the creature is believed to be the manifestation of a person practicing black magic to help people become rich instantly, but in exchange they must sacrifice their humanity, allowing themselves to be transformed into a boar. The human-animal transformation is similar to shape shifting or the werewolf concept in the West.
The myths also told of a man enveloped in black robes before miraculously turning into this creature. After the transformation, the boar demon roams around the village, scratching its body against walls, doors, cupboards, or furniture. Magically, the belongings of the villagers, such as money, gold, and jewelry will disappear and magically get carried away by the Babi Ngepet. If the mission was successful, when the Babi Ngepet safely returns home and transforms back into human form, the black robes will be filled with the stolen wealth.
The person that practices the Babi Ngepet black magic needs assistance from another person. The assistant's task is to stay home and guard the lit candle floating on a basin of water, while the Babi Ngepet is in action. If the fire on the candle is shaking, fading or almost out, it is the sign that the Babi Ngepet is in danger. Another myth told that if the fire on the candle is completely out, the practitioner will be trapped forever in his demonic boar form.
