In this particular scenario, our rescuer has gone into the space to the ground on his drop loop and we have our rigger up top using his own body weight to raise them back up.

Once again, this is austere rigging; we're not saying this technique is for everybody out there, but if you're short of equipment or short of staffing, this is definitely something you can do.

With this technique, the rigger up top is taking a foot ascender and simply counterbalancing and pushing down on the 2:1. He's using the carabiner on the other foot as a redirect (clipped to his laces) in order to bring the rope up. If you have a pair of boots more like an ArbPro style, this technique is very easy.
