Somewhere in the drunken haze of money bricks being thrown directly at KONAMI during the wake of BEMANI in the new millennium, a few outlying absurd (and ahead of their time) concepts actually saw a full release. GDK MultiSession is the apex of KONAMI proving they should never design hardware ideas ever, nor should they ever be allowed near the grill.
Sometimes nicknamed SuperSession, GDK being shorthand for Guitar, Drums, and Keyboard, this was a unique feature between a brief set of releases in the GFDM series that allowed link play past the normal Multisession feature to link an additional two KeyboardMania players for a grand total of 12 songs.
Far predating RockBand and Guitar Hero, this insane three way cabinet link would allow for five different players to play a simultaneous arrangement of unique songs. In true KONMAI fashion, this was accomplished by utilizing the most bizarre arrangement of supplement network attachments involving a separate "MultiSession Unit" that would pass audio in and out of each game separately between Link Panels that would need to be present in each game.
This is not an easy setup to maintain if you're starting from scratch. This is very much way too much work in an already busy schedule. Sadly, it's looking like there isn't going to be much more work in on these cabinets for a decent while longer. This video is an abbreviated look at my partially working link setup of one of the most absurd rhythm game features ever conceived.
