[Crackin DJ] Three Straight Minutes of "road to the desert" Stage Fails
This game is brutal. Going into it with no experience whatsoever is something I couldn't wish for anyone but the mentally unwell. Thankfully, I'm not quite great in the head, so here we are.
Lifebar is cruel. Timing is unforgiving and doesn't exactly line up to when you'd expect. Lifebar gets worse the higher stage you get to. The tutorial not only is exclusively in JP but also doesn't do a great job explaining much of anything. There are specific cues that do not make sense to anyone unfamiliar with the flow of the game. This is after several hours of practicing the first stage with an immense amount of failure and credit feeding inbetween.
It's not much of a secret when you look at all of this as to how this game failed. "Rhythm games are best when they're at their most accessible, This is NOT THAT". Beatmania built an entire franchise out of being intuitive and stylish, casual players could understand at least at the core how the game should flow (the early games were excellent at this!). This is difficult and at the highest level shows an unmatched amount of style, but I cannot imagine many players two decades ago ever attained that status.
..but god damnit this game is cool.
