Initializing a ST7781R based Seeed Studio Touch Shield v1.0 TFT and displaying a string almost instantly, using a dsPIC30F6014A microcontroller.
The microcontroller is clocked at 120 MHz (30 MIPS) by using a 15 MHz crystal and the HS2_PLL16 clock mode.
The data pins use pins RF0-RF7 and the control pins use RF8 and RG0-RG2.
The Touch Shield was modified by desoldering the D8-D13 pin header and resoldering it at a .100" interval to fit the breadboard.
The dsPIC30F6014A is attached to a homemade breakout board to fit the breadboard.
