Dual Universe [Beta] - Orbital view of Teoma - Complete Orbit with no correction thrust
0My trip to planet number seven took me to Teoma, which according to the map is a planet that should not bee here! It also says it is a forest biosphere. I can confirm it has trees on the surface and from orbit it looks to be mostly ice, with some green areas and a little bit of water.
I am really pleased with this orbit as it is a complete orbit without any additional engine thrust being used to maintain the orbit, which is exactly what I have been trying to do. The procedure to make a good orbit like this one is as follows: (And yes before I was making it hard by doing it wrong)
1) Bring your ship to a stop at the distance you want to orbit from.#
(your ship needs to be able to do this or you will simply fall to your destruction)
2) align your ship to the horizontal plane of your planet (as if you were standing on its surface), using a gyroscope that is 0 or 180 degrees.
3 Turn on you long distance vector line.
(by default this is the x keep pressed three times to cycle through the options)
4) Switch to cruse flight mode.
5) Throttle up until you get a nice green orbit line (I use a light green line for this one). This orbit was about 0.81 SU and a speed of about 1250 kmph.
5) Switch to normal flight mode.
6) Leave your command chair.
7) Stand or sit where you can watch the view.
Note: The orbit will be elliptical because as you increase speed your angle changes, which means your orbit is not perfectly aligned. You could try and correct this with a down angle of a degree or so form 0 or 180 degrees (dependent on your ships orientation). Also if you are very close to the planet the elliptical shape could cause you to crash at its low point so be sure to watch for that on the first pass round the planet.
