Duke Nukem 3D - Aquatic TC - Last Reaction [All Secrets]
7Oh boy. I know this is a very important one in the Duke 3D modding history. But i won't sugarcoat it, it aged like complete dogshit, for the most part. Level design is way too dark, and there is no ammo anywhere. particularly the first map, requires you to have SURGICAL ammo efficiency. which i had. i'm actually very proud that i managed to finish this episode without using "give ammo" once.
The author also uses sentry drones as if they're not one of the worst enemies in Duke Nukem They're EVERYWHERE. Enemy placement is also garbage, most combat encounters feel "awkward" to actually do. There are way too many stupid puzzles.That one secret in New L.A which i had to noclip to is a mess, and i couldn't figure out how to open it EVEN WITH THE EDITOR. The worst offender, is Khaki Space. It's big-ass generic space-station (because of course it is....) where you have to run around for 40 minutes with no ammo to boot.
Credit where it's due, the last few maps, from "launch base" are pretty good, and the last map, "Great Stadium" is not only a way better finisher than Sharpnel City's Stadium ever was, but it's a textbook example of great realistic Duke 3D level design. Still, i've heard episode 2 is way better, i'm counting on it. This wasn't very fun.
