Now this is a first. And a daunting one.

It is the first time I have encountered a dungeon where the enemies in the dungeon are less deadly than the ones outside it.

In case you haven't let the marijuana out of your system yet, fighting those dragons in the overland is where you tread EXTREMELY LIGHTLY. Even these jerks in the dungeon are not to be trifled with. I cast spells, this one costing about fifty-six HP, but those dragons do about eighty-two damage as well as causing Curse and Poison status more often than not. So with the cost of Shield spells, the Flight spell and a few others, that basically means you do exactly what I do in these videos: you MICRO-manage the fight and watch your HP like your life in real life depended on it. It means you cast a spell, take some damage, try to anticipate how quick the dragon can snap off another shot and if you can possibly cast another spell and then pause so that you can chug a potion in order to withstand the counter. You can't go more than one "round" without chugging a potion, and most of the time you get one attack per "round."

There are no real rounds in the game, but you know what I mean. And as much as I like the spells (love them, as you will know if you watch my other videos) the fact is the best sword shy of Tores is worthless on these guys up here in skyland. I have swung and swung and only done at most two points of damage IF i actually hit, while the dragon is taking off eighty-two. It just doesn't work. And I have yet to grab Tores.

I'm a bit intrigued though; I see that monster out there on the map in the water, so I wonder what would happen if I started parting the water and try to find it...But there is a possibility that that is old Darces! If that's the case, not going out there for nothing! Not for a while anyway.

That raises the question of whether the other skyland has a viable ocean as well...curious.

I am worried about having the Sword of Wind still and not having returned it. I think it will work out, and that I will end up with the Fire Magic, but that's just a guess. I was worried but at this point I am confident there is no game breaking bug I tripped so I think it will work out.

The townsfolk are pretty reliable for directing me on the plot path, which is good since I would have been lost without it. Such is the way of these old RPGs, the true bloods; you're on your bloody bruised epic own!

You still have to admire this game though. There aren't many games more brutally challenging as this one. And it is really a fine game for what it offers. It's not perfect, but then most games lately are CERTAINLY can't complain.

Sudden death isn't the same thing as challenge, nor whiplash difficulty curves, no matter what sorcery Blizzard works into their games. They can kill all the chickens they want, they can't make a good game without making demonic pacts so their opinion doesn't matter. Not when we are having an intelligent discussion of what makes a good game.
