Dungeon Master NEEDS HELP! Character Backstory Disrupting Game| GM 911
Hey guys, GM 911 here:
I'm a long-time player... and as a player, I'll admit, I've made non-functional adventurers before. I once had a character in a shadow-chaser type Modern d20 game that was a skeptic/atheist and denied the existence of the shadow-creatures. I mention this, because now I feel like I'm paying for my raising.
As a pain-in-the-ass player, in the past, I was waiting for the GM to do something special to help my character get over it, and that eventually happened, but that doesn't seem to be the case for my player.

I'm a baby DM, with my first campaign, and I'm having a hard time with one player. After doing the Session Zero, and doing individual origin stories one-on-one with each player, one of my players changed characters suddenly.

Her new character, now, is seriously problematic. She's rolled up a veteran with PTSD. She is completely worthless, irrational, and crying-crazy every time she encounters anything from The Hells, The Abyss, anything that looks like it might be, or even in religious discussion. Since demons are going to play a MAJOR part in my opposition, this is a big deal.

Everyone in the party indicated they wanted her to chill during an interrogation of a half-fiend, but she broke loose from the people restraining her, and killed the guy before everyone was done. She went into great detail about how she was irrationally pounding wet fists of gore into the tile while screaming about her dead compatriots.

A cleric of her faith has tried to calm her;
her mentor chatted with her about trauma, and how to deal with it;
her god (Ilmater) appeared in a dream and told her to endure;
explained that she feels relieved of her trama since interacting with her god;
nothing has changed.

So, she apparently wants to play this PTSD case... and, I have no idea how to get her character to get over it and become a functional adventurer. Everyone else just wants to have fun, and actually *become* characters, but it's hard when the shell-shocked devilphobe is sucking all the air out of the room.

It's hard to be upset, since the RP is good, but I feel my DM skills are simply too basic to deal with an ultra-complex character like this... and I have no idea what to do here.

Thanks, in advance, for any advice!
