"I want to learn Dwarf Fortress, but why won't my dwarves build the workshop, chop the trees, carry the body of the baby they used to beat a goblin to death with?" The answer to these questions and MANY more is LABORS. Labors are the jobs your Dwarves can be assigned to and they are somewhat confusing. For instance if you want to build a particular workshop you have to have a Dwarf with that workshop's associated labor assigned, who is ALSO not doing anything else. Want to build a farm? You're going to want growers. A still? That's going to require a brewer. We cover a host of ways to handle this problem, from the very laziest methods (autolabor and labormanager) to the more in-depth tools of Dwarf Manipulator and Dwarf Therapist. We do NOT cover how to manager your Dwarves in the vanilla game because we only have five minutes, and ain't nobody got time for that nonsense. Praise the miners!
