This video reveals my thoughts on what I believe to be the EASIEST way to complete gun challenges . Yes, I've seen some tough gun challenges, but I think these work fairly well for the ones that simply require kills with NO objective requirement. Disclaimer: Obiviously this isn't going to work with objective control type missions.

If your gun proficiency challenge is simply to kill enemies, I suggest you do TDM (team deathmatch). There are less people, but the maps are smaller. I believe the smaller size in maps compensate for the lack of players. What I noticed in TDM game modes is that most players tend to group/camp/cluster around the same area. This is just an estimate but I think approximately 80% of the players spend most of their time in the 20% of the map which are the high-traffic areas. I've been doing early level gun proficiencies using this technique and it has worked wonders for me.
