EASY GUIDE: How to defeat Feng Tail General in Black Myth Wukong
16In this guide I'll show you how you can defeat the Feng Tail General to get Wukong's headgear in Black Myth Wukong.
During Chapter 6 you'll need to recover all the pieces of Wukong's armor set, and while most of them are very easy to know where they are because some storm clouds show that something weird is happening on the map, but there's one in particular that is kinda secret and annoying to get, and that's the headgear from the Feng-Tail General.
This giga-cricket spawns near the Mantis Catching Swamp shrine, and starts hopping all over the map until it jumps out of bounds and spawns back at its spawn point. The most important thing to know is that you don't fight this guy, instead you need to rip his antennas using your monkey magic. To do this you need to do the following: use your magic cloud to drop on its head so you can get a prompt to hold a button or key to grab his antennas. As your monkey tries to do this, the cricket will start jumping. Don't let go or you'll have to chase it down to start the process all over again. You need to hold down that button until the giga-cricket does 3 consecutive jumps. Once the cricket rests for a few seconds, press and hold that same button again for the monkey to try to burn the antennas. If you don't die due to the burning effect, you'll get the piece of gear. That's the whole sequence.
This sounds pretty straightforward, but there are certain caveats that you need to consider: Your health, stamina, and four banes resistance. If any of these 3 stats is not maxed out by now, go to the nearest shrine and relocate your stat points to do so. This will allow you to hang all the way as the giga cricket is jumping and resist the burn while trying to rip the antennas. You don't need any extra armor or potions, just rearrange your stats and that's it.
In case you're wondering, the fourth piece of armor is located in that Mantis Catching Swamp near the cricket spawn point where your friend will trigger a cutscene so you can fight a boss later, and finally, the weapon is inside a hidden cave nearby. Here is it's location.
And that's it. You're ready for the final boss fight!
