This Is *really* out of date, the newest versions of KSP include a Map to help judge your orbits, the rocket design still works though.
The easiest rocket I can build that'll get you into orbit with enough fuel to spare for orbital maneuvering. I walk you through building, launching, flying and correcting the final orbit.

I suggest looking at this table of orbital speeds, it helps a great deal in astronavigation.
