EASY Igon's Questline Guide in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree
17In this video, I'll give you a quick guide so you can complete Igon's Side quest and face Bayle the Dread one of the major bosses in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring.
To start Igon's side quest you need to make your way to east of the map in the first area so you can meet Igon on the roadside suffering in excruciating pain. After talking to him is clear that he's going after Bayle. To learn more about this Bayle and Igon's suffering, follow the broken dragon statues down the road until you face an invading Ancient Dragon Man. After defeating this guy, you'll make it to the Dragon Pit, a dungeon where you'll face this guy again. Clearing this dungeon will lead you to a new section of the map, where upon arriving you can find a new message by Igon that reads "Bayle, O' Terror Incarnate, again I stand before ye". The plot thickens as you travel south and reach the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion. Here, a dragon priestess will invite you to participate in a fun ritual to devour a draconic essence and if you wish to partake, she'll give you Bayle's whereabouts on the Jagged Peak and give you a cool consumable named Ancient Dragon's Blessing which uses FP to increase all damage negation. Bayle, if you haven't figured by this point, is a dragon, so, it's time to go kill this big boy.
The next important step for Igon's Side quest happens when you encounter these two dragons battling each other on your way to the peak. If you let one of them win and then defeat the remaining one you'll hear Igon praising your dragon-busting skills and he'll ask you to summon him when you face Bayle by using his Furled Finger.
Before confronting Bayle I would like to point out that I didn't have a hard time against him merely because of my Level 16 Scadutree Blessing and Level 8 Revered Spirit Ash Blessing. I dealt some good damage with my Mesmer Lance although another lance using the Dragon Communion flesh or any other of the items from Igon's Cookbook would've sped the process for sure. That, combined with a good lightning damage negation shield and armor, as well as a couple talismans for fire and lightning damage negation did the trick but I did miss on using the Ancient Dragon Blessing which gives you a good boost to negate all kinds of damage.
If you're a potato like me, summoning Igon and your Mimic Tear is crucial to have 3v1 fight with the best odds possible. To summon Igon against Bayle just look for his sign near the mist door. As you enter go slightly to the left and you'll see it, just watch out for Bayle. If you have a defensive approach to this fight and a good lance to poke Bayle, you'll finish pretty quickly, because Igon and the Mimic will draw all the attention so you can keep attacking the dragon. Just watch out when he grows his wings again around the half of the HP bar and keep your shield up when you see the fire coming your way.
When you defeat Bayle you'll earn almost half a million runes and his heart that can be cashed in for any of two incantations back at the Great Altar of Dragon Communion. Igon's armor set and Bow can be found back where you last met him. And perhaps the greatest surprise is the Priestess Heart and Flowerstone Gavel right by the altar. The last one is a regular weapon, but the Priestess Heart will let you transform into a dragon man. That is one of the best rewards in the whole game so far.
