With Eclipse 4 well established, it's a good time to step back and think about the long term direction for Eclipse. This talk will take a look at the rapidly changing software landscape, and its impact on Eclipse both as a tooling and runtime platform. Where will Eclipse need to be in five years to remain vibrant and relevant? What are various Eclipse projects doing today to address long term trends? Don't expect this talk to have all the answers or even concrete details about the next release, but rather the start of a conversation about the more distant future of the Eclipse platform and ecosystem.
