ECO is a Global Survival Game. What does that mean exactly? It means you play in a multiplayer world that has the possibility of being permanently destroyed, resulting in server-wide perma death. You have to build and survive but in doing so your ultimate survival depends on making sure the planet survives too... damage it and you could damage it beyond its ability to support your life!
