I think Eden is the name of the city and the Fal'cie that controls it. It's a sort of controller - that's rather vague but think of train times and traffic lights all the little things that we subtly automate but with an intelligence actually manning it. Also Eden was like the super summon from Final Fantasy 8 if I remember correctly. I haven't gotten around to replaying that one yet because I'm waiting on the graphics mod.
