The use of these giant robots brings into question the entire system of using insect creatures, amphibians, and even their own species as foot soldiers. They've obviously created a system of interplanetary, if not intergalactic, slavery. However, there is only a point to slaves if the work can't be done through cheaper means. The aliens prove that they can teleport robots over very long distances. This means they can teleport the materials used to create them just as far. They have the ability to simply automate everything and allow their civilization to live post caste. The aliens, and the EDF in canon, both ignore the benefits of simply working for the greater good in favor of an oppressive regime.
