I was trying to time attack this stage when I encountered a little... problem. Basically, these new E-2000 Series robots on this level keep certain gates locked down, meaning that you must destroy them in order to advance.

So this one robot decided to do the un-thinkable: Hide in the ground! At first I was confused since I already got one down. Then I notice that Sonic keeps trying to Homing Attack the ground. Eventually, I look to the side and sure enough, the robot was firing that laser under the ground (you can see the beam from the left side when I check.) Now I had to figure out how to destroy it while unable to actually reach it. Nothing seemed to be working, and just when I had charged the Team Blast Guage...

SURPRISE ATTACK!

It's funny that it came out on it's own volition to try and catch me off guard. Good thing I was paying attention. Even though I had to restart the run, I'm glad I caught this in between.
