Information about The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (German):
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past was first released in Japan in 1991 as the first Zelda game developed for the Super Nintend/Super Famicom. American and European versions were released the following year. The game is an absolute Super Nintendo classic, and it is regularly included in lists of the very best games of all time. As a testament to its popularity, it has been re-released multiple times, with appearances on the Wii, Wii U, 3DS, Switch, and Super NES Classic. The impact of this game can be seen not only in the way that it has shaped the Zelda franchise as a whole, but also in its spiritual sequel, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (a 2013 3DS release).
As a kid, I remember loving playing this game in English. As an adult video game and language enthusiast, I can say that the German version of Link to the Past definitely holds up! The German translation was created by Susanne Pohlmann and Atsuko Matsumoto, and I enjoyed their work a lot. One note of interest is that because the Super Nintendo German version of Link to the past predates the German orthography reform of 1996, some spellings look slightly outdated.
I hope you enjoy this game and watching this German/English Let’s Play as much as I enjoyed making it. The game remains every bit as enjoyable as when it first came out, and I found this playthrough of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past in German one of the most fun ever.
