El Rey Taqueria Cuban & Mexican Cuisine - Food Car Review
Why is El Rey called El Rey? El Rey means “The King” in Spanish. Here at El Rey, we pride ourselves in using the finest quality ingredients to create fresh meals for each of our guests. Our restaurants accommodate all styles of dining. From business lunches, dates, family outings (patios are pet friendly), large catering functions, you name it we provide it. We do to-go orders and even offer all of our fresh cuisine through the convenience of a drive-thru window.
El Rey is the type of place you can feel rewarded about your decision to stop and fuel you or your family with quality substance that will not put a large dent in your wallet. We are proud to have been in business for over 18 years in the greater Houston area. Some of our recipes came from the founder’s Grandmother, and their tried and proven methods are sure to please our diners with their authentic goodness. We are The King of Cuban and Mexican cuisine.
The Food
El Rey offers great variety in their cuisine. Breakfast includes tacos and breakfast plates made with real shell eggs, fresh hot tortillas and beans, delicious crispy bacon, orange juice that is fresh squeezed to order (literally), all the toppings you can think of, as well as an extensive coffee menu with expertly hand crafted lattes and cappuccinos made to order.
Lunch includes an array of assorted tacos and plates, ranging from our authentic Ropa Vieja (shredded beef stewed in a tomato broth Cuban style), Classic Chicken Tortilla Soup, mind blowing Cuban Tacos, fresh marinated Ceviche, Grilled Chicken Salad, and Rotisserie Chicken to name a few. El Rey also proudly makes fresh Horchata, hand-squeezed Limeade (yes, it is really squeezed by hand), and Cantaloupe Juice daily. Our in house bakery provides delicious assorted Muffins, Flan, and Tres Leches at very reasonable rates to finish off your dining experience.
