1) Jump attack is a good attack opener but it takes less hit to trigger stagger with Impaling Thrust and Charge R2.
2) R2 is good for hitting multiple enemies and it also works well on "tanky" enemies that doesn't flinch with normal R1.
3) You can safely poke fast enemies with R1 while guarding with your shield. Good at dealing with like Rats, Dogs and Bats.
4) You can buy Impaling Thrust Ash of War from Knight Bernahl at Warmaster's Shack.
5) You can buy Margit Shackle from Patches in Murkwater Cave.
