The original Weapon Skills seen in Dark Souls 3 were woefully under-used, so the new iteration seen in Elden Ring is great to see. Rather than being relegated to specific situations or gimmick builds (and often being under-powered or overly expensive), I think Weapon Skills in Elden Ring will be see regular use, and add a lot of extra variety to both PvE and PvP.
