I feared this much, but I was still hoping that they tried to remedy the problems the base game had. So more of the same, more openess with nothing inside, more copy paste pointless bosses, probably will look forward to more copy paste dungeons. Really would've wanted just legacy dungeons, but hey this is what the public wanted with their money. More empty space.

The worst idea they implemented here is that blessing buff mechanic. Scadutree fragment for more damage and defense and the Spirit Ash blessing that does the same for your spirits. This literally means that they will give you new shitty weaponry that will be on par or worse off then in the main game. This means that the bosses will all have inflated numbers. This means that this is just a band-aid for poor game planning. This means that there will be a lot of mediocre fast damagetuned one hit killing aoe using enemies. From Software literally took it personally when people bear Malenia I guess and decided that they will do all they can to make the players suffer with any and all amateur ideas that they can come up with. Just make it all more difficult for difficulty's sake. Nice one.

The art is bland for now, but the main game also had bland enemies. The first real boss was an interesting gimmic with the 2 man dancing dragon boss, but does it actually fit into the world? I don't know, but I believe that wasn't the priority for them. The whole first small legacy dungeonish area is just ruins, with some awful enemies and a boss that doesn't seem to fit into the picture. There must be some story involved about what happened here or what was here or why we are tracing Miquella's steps and what that means, but as always the story is pointlessly cryptic or more like there just isn't enough told. So it all just feels tacked on. Nothing to keep me exploring, just rush through and see the rest of the areas. Nice one.

Talking about nothing to explore the loot is absolute abysmal. First weapon is something probably found in the main game, only crafting books and components. Plus this is supposed to be level 150+ DLC, so why the hell are you giving somber stone 3 and smithing stone 1? WTF is this shit? I genuinely think they were rushing the game again and put priority on the wrong things (open world), which means they didn't have enough time to do the things that matter (interesting enemies, cool items, well thought out areas). They hyped the game up(well mostly the players did, but still) and now they just hand you literal trash, disincentivizing any and all exploration. Only thing you can look forward to is the shitty buff items, because everything else seems to be poorly made props. Nice one.

Effect popping weeee, nice job. On the first area even. Really they should've at least made the first area worth playing, but there's just nothing here. Nice one.

So the optional bosses are back and worse then ever. Just some random flavoured same moveset dragon and that one bad enemy in magic university that shoots crossbow bolts. Nice one.

As for the dancing lion, he's okay, minus the damage. Doing more damage then Mohg himself lol. Anyway camera is fucked, during the 2 dash attacks into jump into 1 circle smoke spary, you can't get close decently, cuz camera fucks you up. Also often times it shows the back of the lion's head meaning you can't tell what attack is coming. Nice one.

His fast attack is also a problem, but that's just the same poorish boss design that most end game bosses have in the base game. Just this time it's difficult to tell when it's coming. Obviously my poor old man reflexes just aren't up to snuff, even besides the obscuring nature of the attack telegraphing.

And what was up with the stuttering? Haven't had it this bad before. And in a boss fight, a single enemy. Nice one.

All in all about what I feared. Was hoping they'd turn around and go back to their roots, but obviously money has spoken. People like this sort of nothingness. Immersion. World to not want to live in. There will probably be a second open world game like it next. And probably most people like it, so good for them.

As for me, I hope I'm wrong, but maybe this is another triple a game francize I have to stop looking forward to in the future. More indie games for me I guess.. Hope I'm wrong, like them too much in general. Though more Sekiro then whatever this is.

Obviously will still beat this, I'm far too autistic to give up when I'm this far in. Dancing lion isn't quite bad enough that I'd resort to spirits yet. So I'll continue to ignore that awful buff item mechanic and continue to truck along. We'll see how long I'll last like this though :D

The reason I didn't do a long stream right now is so I can transfer the game from my HDD to SDD. If I'm going to have to fight a boss a hundred times or more, then the loading screens are starting to annoy me. We'll see if this lowers the time it takes to get back into the fray. Probably a second stream in a couple of hours.
