Let's compare Eagle with Imperial Eagle.
While both ships have same frame there are significant differences, just remember that when you compare stats you must pay attention not only to how many weapons, how big are shield and armor values ship have or top speeds but also pay attention to maneuverability, internal compartment amount, power plant and power coupling size, so ship with stronger shields not necessarily will have stronger shields in the field - there still is power management factor.

All in all Imperial Eagle wins in looks and sounds but loses in combat functionality, but that's just my opinion.
