In this video, I take a look at a commonly asked question which is how to scan a navigation beacon. Now up until Beyond ch 4 update, you could scan a nav beacon instead of using your discovery scanner. However, discovery scanners are now standard kit on all ships in Elite Dangerous, so it's original purpose is now no longer applicable. There are of course good reasons to scan the beacon, and can be helpful or even necessary in completing some missions.
