Elite Dangerous VR: There and back again - A bumbler's tale [Jaques Station CG]
My Elite: Dangerous VR exploration journey to Jaques Station and back to the bubble in an Imperial Cutter.
Jaques Station is a space station that accidentally jumped 22,000 light years out into deep space. I brought my Imperial Cutter with over 600 tons of Tantalum ore to the station as part of the community goal to repair Jaques Station. I also participated in the community goal to mine ore for Jaques Station to help establish a planetary base in the area. This marks the beginning of a "new bubble," a civilized area out in deep space.
I have been playing Elite: Dangerous for a few months now but never tried out exploration until now, so this was my first journey out into the black. The Imperial Cutter is not an ideal exploration vessel, but it can hold the most cargo of any ship in the game, so I brought it out into the black to deliver lots of cargo for the community goal. I ended up falling asleep and crashing into a star and taking so much heat damage that my cargo hatch got destroyed and I jettisoned 42 tons of cargo out into space.
I was introduced to Elite: Dangerous through virtual reality and spend all my time in the game in VR with the HTC Vive VR HMD. It's my favorite VR game at the moment. I'm using the Saitek x52 HOTAS flight stick setup.
