This man Abubakar Salim, has my sympathy. He made Tales of Kenzera: ZAU and its studio Surgent Studio. I still stand by it being a good game and I enjoyed my time with it. Its focus was earnest, personal, and clearly not aimed at the 'mainstream demographic' and its sales and studio firings reflect that. The industry chose to platform him and his story of woe as a 'sales pitch'; trying to recreate Unraveled 2.0. It was gross. It was poor form. We saw through it.
Make good games. Cater to the audience. Stray from that at your own risk, and temper your expectations accordingly.
