ENCODYA is a point and click adventure game set in the city of Neo Berlin in the year 2062. You follow a young girl, Tina, and her hulking nanny bot, SAM-53, as they go on an adventure to complete the mission her long lost father hands down to her.
The game has a distinct visual style of 3D characters, a backdrop that looks 2D, and a faint filter that brings to mind the movie A Scanner Darkly. You get fairly animated backgrounds, and hear the hustle and bustle of a city set far in the future. It does make the world feel more alive.
The game play is a straight forward and rather traditional point and click adventure game. You move around locations, talk to quirky individuals to get hints on what you should do next, and mouse over every pixel to find items you can interact with. Then you combine said items to solve puzzles and progress in the story. For the most part, the puzzles in ENCODYA are fairly logical and the game does give you enough clues to find the solution on your own most of the time. It can still get a bit difficult at parts and thankfully the game does offer an easy mode where you can highlight most items and get in game hints from SAM.
Overall, ENCODYA is a solid point and click adventure game. The cyberpunk aesthetic looks great, the voice acting is serviceable, and the puzzles are a pleasure to solve. It does have a sort of charm that grew on me the more I played it and gave me a great sense of satisfaction when I solved the puzzles without any hints.
