Game Description:

Pikmin 4 is an upcoming real-time strategy video game developed and published by Nintendo. It will be the fourth main installment of the Pikmin series, following Pikmin 3 (2013), and sixth installment overall. It is set for release on the Nintendo Switch on July 21, 2023.

The game will mark the first in the series to feature a custom playable character, alongside other features involving a newly adjusted day and night system, allowing players to freely explore the area during the night without having to mandatorily retreat at the end of the day. In the game, the player assumes the role of a member of the Rescue Corps who is tasked with rescuing them while trying to save Captain Olimar in the process.

Pikmin 4 utilises the same basic gameplay as its predecessors in the Pikmin series — players control a minuscule leader, who must spend days on an Earth-like planet, raising Pikmin to use in defeating enemies, securing objects and achieving specific goals in various locations. Players have the option to customise the appearance of the primary player character. Pikmin 4 adds a mechanic to deploy Pikmin, and a camera option much closer to the ground, as well as introducing species of Pikmin with new abilities to help solve puzzles and tackle enemies, such as Ice Pikmin who can freeze water and enemies, and Glow Pikmin, which can ward off enemies at night. In addition, the player will be able to command a dog-like creature called Oatchi, who can help carry objects, or transport Pikmin across water. The game's main story will focus on rescuing castaways of an unknown race upon the same planet usually used in the Pikmin series. Pikmin 4 will also feature an optional two-player co-op mode and a customizable avatar system.
