Hey there and welcome to the last episode of Let's Play God of War 4 (2018) in which we will fight the final boss of the game and later discover the secret of Jötunheim which holds the key to the entire story of the game. We will also discover the games secret ending hinting at the sequel that is hopefully coming out soon.
God of War[a] is a third-person action-adventure game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE). Released on April 20, 2018, for the PlayStation 4 (PS4) console, it is the eighth installment in the God of War series, the eighth chronologically, and the sequel to 2010's God of War III. Unlike previous games, which were loosely based on Greek mythology, this game is loosely based on Norse mythology. The main protagonists are the returning Kratos, the former Greek God of War, and his young son Atreus. Following the death of Kratos' second wife and Atreus' mother, they journey to fulfill her promise and spread her ashes at the highest peak of the nine realms. Kratos keeps his troubled past a secret from Atreus, who is also unaware of his true nature of being a god. Along their journey, they encounter monsters and gods of the Norse world.
Described by creative director Cory Barlog as a reimagining of the franchise, a major gameplay change is that Kratos prominently uses a magical battle axe instead of his signature double-chained blades. God of War also uses an over-the-shoulder free camera, with the game in one shot, as opposed to the fixed cinematic camera of the previous entries. The game includes role-playing video game elements, and Kratos' son Atreus provides assistance in combat. The majority of the original game's development team worked on God of War and designed the game to be accessible and grounded. A separate short text-based game, God of War: A Call from the Wilds released in February 2018, follows Atreus on his first adventure.
God of War received universal acclaim from critics. It was praised for its narrative, world design, art direction and graphical quality, the characters of Kratos and the supporting cast, and the new combat system. It received perfect scores from multiple reviewers and is the highest-rated game in the God of War series and the third highest-rated PS4 game on Metacritic.
Many years have passed since Kratos took his vengeance against the Olympian gods. Having survived his final encounter with his father Zeus, Kratos now lives with his young son Atreus in the world of the Norse gods, a savage land inhabited by many ferocious monsters and warriors. In order to teach his son how to survive in such a world, Kratos must master the rage that has driven him for many years and embrace his newfound role as a father and mentor.
God of War (2018) is the first game that doesn't focus on Greek mythology, as it has changed the narrative to Norse mythology. It is also first game to feature two characters throughout the gameplay (though in God of War III Pandora accompanied Kratos during certain segments of the game, she was not playable). It will also be the first game to feature another playable character besides Kratos, as Atreus will be playable in certain segments of the game. It is, however, not the first time the God of War franchise features characters from a different mythology. God of War: Chains of Olympus featured aspects of Persian, Arab, and Irish mythology, in the forms of the Basilisk, Efreet, and the Banshee, and God of War II features the Kraken, which originates in the Scandinavian areas of Europe.
Indicative of the fact that this installment is a continuation of the series, the move "Spartan Rage" nods to Kratos' past as a Spartan. Kratos also retains his Spartan tattoo, has scars on his forearms resembling the chains from the Blades of Exile, the scars on his abdomen and left eye, as well as the ashes of Lysandra and Calliope covering him.
God of War (2018) is the first installment in which "reimagining" a major gameplay changes including the game mode includes role-playing game, there is no Sex Mini-game, no Save Altars, no Orb Chests, the HUD Blades of Chaos has changed into Nordic HUD, less QTE, and mostly Kratos' face is not shown on the main menu as the early installments of the series, surpass the "traditions" of past God of War games, the second is God of War: Ascension.
