Abstract: At Springfield College we offer one differential equations class, a class which is focused on ordinary differential equations and which serves primarily mathematics and computer science majors. This Spring 2025 semester will be the first differential equations course to be enhanced by AI, and AI will have wide-ranging though largely superficial influences. I will use AI for various teaching tasks including: (1) transcribe and typeset handwritten notes (2) update the syllabus (3) generate routine questions (4) generate application questions (5) create homework and quiz solutions. All the while I will supervise its work carefully. In class I will point out how it can help students streamline tedious calculations, and answer conceptual questions. Finally, I will discuss errors that are likely with AI, and ways that I have considered to integrate it more profoundly into the course.
