[Enshrouded] Demo Test Play【エンシュラウデッド】体験版 お試しプレイ (英語)
I was going to play this with a friend, but it crashes non-stop on his PC, so here's me playing alone. I played for an hour before this, but didn't record it. Anyway, it's nice, but somehow feels like it's missing something that 7 Days and Valheim have. I really dislike how the player characters look, but they look bad in 7DtD and Valheim, too. After thinking about it a lot, I think it's because the game is constantly telling me what to do next and where to go. There's even an objective marker. 7DtD and Valheim just plonk the player down in the world and let you fend for yourself. In both of my test playthroughs the map was very similar, too. One of the things that makes Valheim so great is everything feels like uncharted territory. So I think this game just lacks that level of "free exploration" feel. In its current state, anyway.
This is definitely more actiony, which I think is good, but it's kinda weird how the action animations are super fast compared to the slow pace of the game. I don't like how it suddenly goes from day to night and back, and I don't like how the combat camera pushes the character down to the bottom of the screen. It feels weird to have to jump up mountains after playing so many open world games with rock climbing. There's no confirmation for crafting, and it's easy to accidentally undo building. But these are all minor gripes.
By the way, I cut the lengthy loading at the start, and I also just streamed directly to YouTube. I didn't want to spend the rest of the day uploading a 40-80gb video. Quality is worse, though. It was 60fps+ on my screen, but it doesn't look as smooth in the recording.
