8In Odoo, actions are predefined operations that determine what happens when a user interacts with a menu item, button, or other UI elements. Actions define how views, reports, wizards, or other operations behave in response to user input.
Types of Actions in Odoo
Window Actions (ir.actions.act_window)
Used to open views (form, tree, kanban, etc.).
Example: Opening a sales order form when clicking on "Sales Orders."
2. Server Actions (ir.actions.server)
Purpose: Perform backend logic (Python code or predefined behavior).
Use Cases:
Running custom Python code
Triggering workflows
Sending emails
Can be triggered from UI buttons, automation rules, or menus.
3. Report Actions (ir.actions.report)
Used to generate reports in PDF, XLSX, or other formats.
Example: Printing an invoice in PDF format.
4. URL Actions (ir.actions.act_url)
Redirects the user to an external URL.
Example: Opening an external website when clicking a button.
5. Client Actions (ir.actions.client)
Used for custom JavaScript actions in the client UI.
