Epic Games vs Apple Explained
Thanks to ExpressVPN for sponsoring our channel http://expressvpn.com/inside
Epic Games is suing Apple Inc. over antitrust laws and the fallout so far has been pretty interesting.
It all started back in August of 2020 when Epic intentionally violated the App Store terms of service when they allowed Fortnite players to buy V-Bucks directly from Epic instead of through Apple's processing service in which Apple gets to take a 30% cut.
Fortnite was promptly removed from the app store and then Epic fired up a #FreeFortnite marketing campaign and the antitrust lawsuit.
Epic is hoping they can tear down the walls of Apple's closed marketplace so that they can put their own marketplaces on millions of iPhones around the world without having to give Apple a cut. Or at the very least a much smaller piece of the pie.
In today's video, we are explaining everything we know about the lawsuit and all the updates we have heard so far.
Stay tuned for more updates and just generally cool explainers and short-form news pieces about what's been going on in games lately.
Thanks for watching.
