"eucalypt" by spark & overdefo | Geometry Dash 2.11
862I've played multiple levels by spark in the past, but I haven't uploaded one before now. They've all been quite fun to play. However, the visuals haven't stood out to me too much, and they often got rated before I even got to try them. This, on the other hand, is definitely unique visually. It's by far the best looking level I've seen by him. He got overdefo to help with some things, and I can definitely see some of his style here and there.
People who read many of my descriptions know how much I appreciate consistent themes and colors throughout levels. This has just that. Lots of colors are mixed very well from start to end, such as purple, pink, and green. The theme comes from certain reoccurring motifs, and I'm talking about flowers in particular. spark showed me previews of this before, and while I found the first parts promising, I was concerned it'd lack variety. The first part is 15 seconds, which would mean about 4 parts for a typical 1-minute level. That's not a lot. I'm glad to see that they made a level that's nearly 2 minutes long, allowing for a lot of different designs and colors to shine. That also means more variety in the song, which made the slower part at 1:17 possible. The floating structures here look awesome.
All in all, there isn't much for me to pick on here. It's awesome to see a level this unique visually by spark. While his levels never looked bad by any means, they just lacked that little extra to really grab my attention. This did that, and I hope we'll see more stuff like this from him in the future. Of course, overdefo also had a part in this, but I feel like I've talked enough about him in recent times. You can definitely see his influence here, and it'd be cool to see spark going off a bit in a similar direction, just in his own way of course. One thing that is kept from his previous works is the gameplay, which is very enjoyable here as well. I think this will get an Epic 9 Star rating, and I recommend trying it out.
