EV vs Gas Powered Advantage Highlight Featuring 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona EV
The Dodge Charger Daytona, now available in both electric and gasoline versions, has captured attention with its recent debut, blending classic muscle car attributes with cutting-edge technology. This move to offer both electric and gas-powered models is designed to appeal to a diverse range of drivers.
The electric Dodge Charger Daytona comes equipped with all-wheel drive, powered by electric motors located at both the front and rear. The R/T variant is anticipated to deliver up to 496 horsepower and 404 pound-feet of torque, while the Scat Pack version could reach up to 670 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. Both models include a "Power Shot" feature that provides a temporary 40-horsepower boost, enhancing their performance for short bursts. The estimated driving range is about 317 miles for the R/T model and 260 miles for the Scat Pack. The electric versions are expected to accelerate faster than their gas-powered counterparts, with the R/T reaching 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and the Scat Pack achieving the same in just 3.3 seconds.
Design-wise, the new Charger Daytona EV has a more streamlined appearance, with a longer wheelbase and increased size to offer better practicality and more storage space. The absence of a conventional engine also allows for additional front storage. While the vehicle retains the recognizable Charger design, it introduces modern touches like the illuminated Fratzog logo and a redesigned front end that improves aerodynamics.
Inside, the Charger Daytona has also seen updates, featuring a larger digital instrument cluster and a central infotainment display. New ambient lighting, referred to as "Attitude Adjustment," has been added, along with a new pistol-grip gear selector replacing the traditional shifter.
As for the gasoline version, despite earlier plans to phase out internal combustion engines, Dodge has confirmed that the next-generation Charger will include a gas-powered model. This version will be driven by Stellantis' 3.0-liter "Hurricane" twin-turbo inline-six engine, available in both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. This engine choice reflects Dodge's commitment to keeping the muscle car spirit alive while adapting to the changing demands of the automotive world.
