[edit: they reverted all the changes. amen]
TL;DR - haha their lead developer lied through her teeth about that route fix they've been patting themselves on the back so hard and breaking their arms.

https://forums.eveonline.com/t/version-19-01-known-issues/294310/143
"While we deployed a fix for this yesterday, it seems this is still occuring for some users. The information we really need to get to the bottom of this is: Are players using autopilot or are the gates in route being manually selected? Are players minimizing, alt-tabbing, or focused on another program during the duration of the jump?
If anyone can reply with some more information on this it’d be greatly appreciated"

HAHAHA yeah, fu and the horse you rode in on and the boat you arrived on.
ps. learn how to spell, "occuring" moron since it's obviously a concept you're unclear on in the first place.

i think the thing that most enrages me about this immersion breaking bug is that until they posted in the patch notes a few patches ago (yeah, they bragged twice about fixing it) it wasn't really on my radar since it's been going on for at least as long as i've been part of eveonline back in 2004...i've kind of blocked it out and dealt with it.
Their fix though broke the already broken, and now we hardly get "no object selected" now it's pretty much wall to wall ingate selected...which is mentally retarded, since it's just a bloody tease by them because you KNOW they are going to just walk away from this and hope we forget about it...lulz. yeah, uh huh. sure. hopefully they 'revert' everything back to the broken way it was before they totally FUBAR'd it. i'll take SNAFU over FUBAR plzkthxdrvthru

It's so bad that i can't even give her speech the modicum of respect i would give someone asking decent reproducible bug suggestions, but someone throwing out sheet anchors to distract from the fact CCP devs wishes they hadn't gotten so smug and appeared so utterly stupid as to AGAIN congratulate themselves for fixing something before their chicks hatched.
It just betrays the woeful lack of a QA department and their utter craven attitude that they can use us as their unpaid QA slave labor - and get us to pay subscription to boot. Of course, none of that shows up on their fabled 'metrics' so why the fuck should they care? lulz!
The fact they ask such bone headed questions, AND put the 'fix' in "graphics" section of the patch instead of "user interface" (pretty fucking sure a drooling retard knows the difference between eye candy and an pure functional 'selected item' window) shows you they neither care nor take the issue seriously, and expect us to go back to the way we were after they revert their 'fix'

And we will, my take away from this is to have the issue front and center and me rolling up my sleeves and finding a workaround for myself, and by extension of this channel, sharing it with the rest of you willing to put up with my pompous blowhard self.

===== ADDENDUM
previous video on subject - https://youtu.be/OfauLoFUpyI

unedited raw comment on the official forums to that post:
"it occurs regardless of clients, regardless of graphical quality, regardless of full screen or not. AND regardless of alt-tabbing.
Stop blaming others for your lack of empathy for an issue you guys are obviously smug about having 'fixed'
and why the HELL was the recent 'fix' listed under 'graphics' instead of 'user interface'? i mean, is it subconscious condescension of a extremely long standing issue you JUST happened to notice and wiggled your fingers voila fixed? "
