EverQuest 2 Review - Analyzing This Classic MMORPG
166When it comes to my favorite game in the EQ franchise, it's hands down EverQuest 2. Let's dive into a detailed review of this MMORPG from its launch in 2004 and through its classic years.
A natural evolution of the first MMO into something more streamlined, EQ2 has more lore, better visuals, and a whole lot more bang for your buck than the first EverQuest, but when you compare the modern day version to the classic launch of this game, it can be hard to see that, if you fall into the trap of believing all the negativity around the "dumbing down" that has happened along the way.
While I don't necessarily agree with all of the things that have been changed along the way, I have a deep passion for this game that wouldn't be there if the game was broken, or just plain bad. It's a great game, overshadowed only the simple fact that WoW launched at the same time and took the world by storm.
While I have a "first love" feeling towards the first EverQuest game, I feel like EQ2 was the maturing of the franchise into something more tangible, more streamlined, and something that was funner than the original. It also gives me hope for what could be coming down the pipeline, if they take all the good things from EQ1 and EQ2 and combine them for whatever comes next.
