Babylon enjoys masquerading with commentary on the effects of Hollywood as an industry on its own population, but the movie is about so much more than that.

BABYLON is extravagant. People are nude, screaming, chanting, crying, and each pixel of your screen is dedicated to giving your mental state a seizure.
This film is 50 million sequences of over-the-top action in an attempt to show how crazy the Hollywood life is - deranged and drug-fueled.

The film follows Manny Torres, a filmmaker who wishes to be part of something bigger than himself. He exhibits an idealism in Hollywood, seeing the magic infused in the world that only people like him are able to see.

“I just…wanna be part of something bigger.” - Manny Torres

Chapters:
0:00 The Presented Message
2:23 The Real Message

This video essay is split into two parts, concerning Babylons story at a surface level and how it was marketed, and then how I perceived it. Overall, summarizing the real meaning behind Babylon.

Soundtracks used by Justin Hurwitz:
"Voodoo Mama"
"Gold Coast Rhythm - Sidney's Solo"

Please feel free to discuss in the comments! This film has so many different interpretations, which is part of why it is such a great one. There's so much I couldn't say in such a short video.
