#Kubuntu 17.04 is scheduled for release on the 13 April 2017. Out of all the official Ubuntu derivatives Kubuntu has seen the most significant changes, particularly since the LTS release of Kubuntu 16.04. This is due to the aggressive development of the Plasma desktop, which is now up to version 5.9.4. Thats two and four major version jumps from 16.10 and 16.04 respectively.
