The use of land is determined both by plysical factors such as topography, dimate, sot types as weel as human factors such as population density, technological capability, cullture and tradetions eto. The pattern of the net sowr area varies greatly from one state to another. It is over \( 80 \% \) of total area in punjab and Haryana and less than 10\% in Arunanchal Pradest, Mizoram, manipur and Andaman Nicobar 1slands. Forest area in the corentryy is far lower then the desired \( 33 \% \) of geographical area, as it was outlined in National Forest Policy (1952).
