Another dangerous, abandoned mine exploration? You bet! The Excelsior Mine was a talc mine that operated from 1936 through the late 1950s. It's reported that 47,000 tons of talc was mined here from the enormous underground stopes. Not much is left at the abandoned mine today -- some tunnel entrances, ore cart track remnants, and piles and piles of waste rock. The mine is still located on Excelsior Mine Road but is now inside the boundary of the Kingston Range Wilderness, so mining will never occur there again.

The Excelsior Mine is one of those abandoned mines that I had driven past many times and had always wanted to explore and document. I finally got around to it in this video. Enjoy!
