With the Hadal Vault open, I find more Xenotech that allows me to survive underwater.

Apparently this whole biome's purpose was to give me that tech so I could dive into the pool near the Fabricator, leading to the final biome. The biome wasn't given an official name in-game when I arrived, so I had to look it up.

I did not expect this at all (yay for no spoilers). When I heard that the final biome was named Abyss, I thought it would be a hell or something. The biome offers a new set of challenges. The torpedo squids are VERY annoying. I succumb to the guard fight approaching the gap that I'm supposed to find a way across - basically a huge swimming Brute. I assume that is only half way through the level.

At least now I can farm up heals and an astronaut in the Echoing Ruins and Fractured Wastes and now reserve them for making my way through the Abyss.

I still don't know how I'm supposed to use the water and lava powerups in biomes 1-3. I'll wait and find out.

Maybe now that I've reached this biome, there will be more story at the house. (Update: There was, but I can't post the video because there is copyrighted music. Apparently the 5-note melody that is so prominent in Hyperion's boss music is the first 5 notes of the first verse of Blue Oyster Cult's Don't Fear the Reaper - play the melody in the boss fight at 0.75 speed and you'll hear it. Selene finds the wooden dice and crushes it in her hands, and suddenly the play switches to the child again, who looks for her toy octopus then hides inside the TV from the astronaut - the astronaut reaches inside the TV and the vision ends - after Selene wakes up outside on a plateau above the house, she sees Helios crashing in the distance, and she is next to an emplacement gun with a red-hot barrel. Apparently, she shot Helios down - or so she said to herself.)

My next task is to power up specifically to get past the mid-level guard. Hopefully after I do that, I won't need to fight it again.
