Eye of the Beholder II: The Legend of Darkmoon Playthrough (No Commentary) - Pergasus
This is my playthrough of Westwood Studios Blobber RPG, Eye of the Beholder II: The Legend of Darkmoon.
There isn't too much to say here, except that it's Eye of the Beholder I, just bigger, but bigger doesn't necessarily mean better.
First off, the gameplay is exactly the same as it was back in Eye of the Beholder I, just the Stoneskin spell was removed. Enemies can now open doors whcih makes resting a pain, and some of them know the Hold Person spell which can cause a game over if your entire party gets paralyzed! Several new traps were added, including a room full of lightning panels that actually move, and that isn't the only thing, but moving pits are a thing now, too, and thank God they never revisited that idea again in either Eye of the Beholder III: Assault on Myth Drannor OR Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos! And before you ask, yes, I know that Eye of the Beholder III and Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos were developed by different companies. They brought in the petrification status into this game, meaning that your characters can get petrified and you need either the Stone to Flesh spell or Magic Dust to cure it, and a lot of annoying but interesting puzzles.
But it isn't all bad. In Eye of the Beholder II, you have music here and there (it plays all throughout in the PC98 version) and an actual ending, which is a good thing considering how hard the game is.
Everything else about the game is pretty much just Eye of the Beholder I, and while I still don't think that Eye of the Beholder II is the best game in the trilogy, it's certainly not the worst (an honor that goes to Eye of the Beholder III: Assault on Myth Drannor, a game which I WILL get to at some point in the future). I have grown to love this game more and more with each time I've played it through, from beginning to end, but I still don't think it's the best because to me, Eye of the Beholder I did everything perfectly.
With that being said, it's going to be quite awhile before I get into Eye of the Beholder III: Assault on Myth Drannor, because 1) it is VERY different from the first two games and you can tell that something is off based off of the very first cutscene in the game, and 2) I'm not quite as experienced with Eye of the Beholder III as I am with the first two Eye of the Beholder games.
Anyways, until then, I'll see you all in the next playthrough, bye-bye for now!
In the meantime, here are some of my other playthroughs that I think you should check out!

Editor's note: I forgot to axe some of the footage in the playthrough where I had to savescum to get Shorn to join my party because whether he chooses to join or not is based around RNG. It's about a 50/50 chance to recruit him or not but he is well worth the effort because he is a single-class Cleric, although you can get another Cleric later, but he is a Half-Elf Fighter/Cleric, so he'll gain experience points at a slower rate than your other characters, so do be mindful of that, so maybe it was a good thing I didn't axe that bit of the footage, although I could have at least left a timestamp where you could jump forward in the video to when I finally manage to recruit him! Oh, well, at least I learned my lesson, right?
