This is my playthrough for Westwood Studios' PC RPG, Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos.

Sorry that it took me so long to get to Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos. After having played Eye of the Beholder III: Assault on Myth Drannor, I said I would play what many would consider to be the *true* Eye of the Beholder 3, which is this game, but a few things came up and I guess I was just experiencing RPG burnout. Come to think of it, I think I'm just losing interest in video games, in general. Just one more reason to get to work on getting more video game playthrough videos up on this channel before I *totally* lose interest, eh?

Anyways, Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos! As I said, many people consider this game to be the *true* Eye of the Beholder 3, and it's not hard to see why! For one, Lands of Lore was made by Westwood Studios, the very same group of people that worked on and created Eye of the Beholder and Eye of the Beholder II: The Legend of Darkmoon, using the experience they had gained from the creation of those two games which led them to create this one. However, while a few bells and whistles were added, a few more were taken off and I honestly have to ask, "was it worth it?"

A good example of this would be the story between Lands of Lore and the first two Eye of the Beholder games. Scotia, the villain of Lands of Lore, is a villain who wants to conquer Gladstone, but not for a reason such as greed. The villains of the Eye of the Beholder games only do what they do precisely *because* of greed.

Music that plays all throughout the game was another big addition that Lands of Lore has that the first two Eye of the Beholder games don't, and while they did have music, it was only during cutscenes or story bits.

Graphics-wise, Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos is pretty good! I don't honestly know, and therefore can't say for certain which has better graphics, the Eye of the Beholder games or Lands of Lore, but they're both *really* good! Let's just tie them on this bit of the nonexistent score we have going here.

Now we get to the hardest bit of the review, and that would be covering Replay Value. Hmm... I honestly think Eye of the Beholder 1 wins out here. You see, in Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos, you pretty much *have* to have every character become good at everything (at least if you chose Ak'shel at the beginning). Speaking of, this is as good a time as any to talk about one of the things Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos took out from the Eye of the Beholder games, and that is character creation. See, in Lands of Lore, you don't create a party of characters from scratch to control in this game, oh, no! You instead choose one out of four champions to be the hero of the realm, and the other characters that join your party all have strengths and weaknesses. So does your chosen champion, for that matter. The champions you can choose from are Ak'shel, the Dracoid Mage, Michael, the Human Fighter, Kieran, the Huline Thief, and Conrad, the Human Jack-of-all-Stats. Each of them can beat the game, but each one is also a sort of difficulty mode, as well.

For example, if you choose Ak'shel, then for the most part, your game will be *very* easy, for the most part, considering you can cast some pretty powerful spells right out the gate. However, if you choose Michael, the game will be considerably harder, as physical attacks in this game tend to miss 9 times out of 10. Kieran is arguably the hardest of the lot to beat the game with, as he has the lowest stats out of the bunch and he can't wear footwear, but to make up for this, he can attack and cast spells faster than literally anyone else in the game. Conrad has well-rounded stats and can fill pretty much any role, so if you're unsure of which champion to choose, then choose Conrad. He's a stronger yet slower version of Kieran anyway.

I've no doubt that I'll get around to Lands of Lore: Guardians of Destiny one day, however, that day will not be anytime soon, as I have very little experience with it, but I do own it through gog.com, and I want to see what happens to our favorite old hag's only son.

Speaking of, whatever happened to Scotia's voice actress, Barbara A. Costa? If ever you need an actress to play or voice act as/for a witch, then you need look no further than her! Seriously, out of all witches who have had voice acting that I've heard, and I've heard plenty, she has them all beat, hands down!
