F-ZERO 99; L97-98, 1st place GPKL badge acquired; 2023/11/26 AZL9S Switch no voice video
AZL9S video of F-Zero 99 on the Nintendo Switch.
-
Level 97-98.
-
I FINALLY got the 1st place Grand Prix King League badge (though if it wasn't for that outage I would've had it sooner)! I'm very happy to get it especially with my favorite vehicle the Blue Falcon. It just needed a somewhat specific strategy...heh.
-
The strat was to not be in a room with the pros leaving just me...though I do NOT consider myself a pro because I definitely make mistakes due to situations like my body not functioning right (memory, hands not moving, sickle cell anemia stuff) or controller issues (not an issue this time with a newer controller).
-
With my years of every F-Zero game (except Climax because that's Japanese exclusive) from the past, I say I'm a skilled player. In terms of F-Zero SNES class difficulty (Beginner, Standard, Expert & Master), I'm between a "standard - expert" racer class.
-
So with just "Expert or below" racers in the lobby I can pull off a doable win (assuming I DON'T get screwed by bumpers).
-
I gave up the first King GP one (due to the bad Mute City III progress) to get into a different lobby with 38 people with the rest being CPU. I figured it's possible with 38 people (not pro aka master level) because this means I won't be THAT far behind in Mute City III when I'm bumper KO farming compared to other attempts.
-
With 5 bumper KOs in Mute City III and placing 23th position, I was praying that was gonna be enough. | was getting worried when checking a certain Blue Fire Stingray's points from Death Wind II to Port Town II's race but I saw he got disqualified at Red Canyon II leaving only a Golden Fox in the way.
-
So I would not only HAVE to get 1st in Fire Field to total 954 points but ALSO that Golden Fox need to be 4th (1st place tie) or lower or I won't acquire that badge.
-
I got first in Fire Field so that objective was complete. It all came down to that Golden Fox so I was praying he didn't get 2nd or 3rd watching the results. Turns out he crashed! I shouted out "YES! FINALLY!"
-
I have just about every badge in F-Zero 99 (with the exception of an eventual Level 99 badge and the Double KO badge)! I'm satisfied now. I can play this game however I want with no goal pressure in mind anymore. Fun times once again! Whew!

[AZL9S NOTES]
Basically F-Zero from the SNES but as a Racing Royale game of up to 99 players online and added stuff from other F-Zero games like the Boost from F-Zero X, GX, etc. that uses your Power (Health).
-
Note that at times you'll see me waiting on the Race mode menu because I wanted to try to enter in a lobby with Twitch streamers I subbed to...mostly TSM BarbarousKing.
-
Just a FYI if you are wondering why I wait though some waiting do get cut from videos because of the OBS pause function.
