F1 2012 by Codemasters, 2012.

Codemasters 2012 official game made a few improvements over 2011. And a few things that looked marginally worse. Let's get into it...

1. Race Start (Monza): 0:00 The lighting here is richer than F1 2011. You can see sun reflecting from a rival car's wing mirror, and the sky is bluer. It still feels a bit light, brightness-wise though. It's nice to see dust kicked up when the cars go offline or cut-corners (something that's been highlighted in F1 2018, but it was in F1 2012 too!).

2. Spray Effects (Silverstone): 0:38 Wet weather doesn't look quite as wet as F1 2011, with less spray. It might be that there was less rain falling, but overall it doesn't look as convincing here.

3. Tunnel & View (Monaco): 0:54 The McLaren chrome effect looks even better than F1 2011. The lighting seems less colourful and with less contrast though, especially in the tunnel, where it almost looks entirely grey.

4. Wet Track (Spa-Francorchamps): 1:10 The raindrop effects now look extremely effective, where they were blurrier and fuzzier in F1 2011. It's a bit of a brighter wet day than F1 2011. The rain drops effect, whilst more dense than F1 2011, is actually less realistic, as the drops move along with your car, as though a personal raincloud is moving along with your car, dropping them on you!

5. Pitstop (Interlagos): 1:29 This is the first Codemasters game to feature a cinematic pitstop, with the camera switching from in-car (that it once again locks you in to, when in the pitlane) to various external cameras. It looks dramatic, but takes a bit of realism away, if you enjoy playing from in-car only!

6. Huge Crash (Montreal): 1:44 Crashes are on-par with previous Codemasters F1 games. Here, I manage to half flip 2 other cars! I've shown the crash from two different replay angles. The biggest difference, if you look closely, is how full the grandstands are. In F1 2011 there's hardly any people rendered in each grandstand! Small improvements...
